Mrs. Woodard and Mrs. Brown's Kindergarten wrapped up their Apple Unit with a sweet and tasty celebration! After a week of learning, exploring, and all things apples, their little learners enjoyed some yummy apple treats to finish it off! 🍏😋
After reading Why Do Leaves Change Color?, Mrs. Woodard and Mrs. Brown's kindergartners took their learning outdoors for a nature hunt. They explored their surroundings, searched for signs of fall, observed different leaves, and talked about the color, shapes, and changes they noticed in nature. 🍃🍂🍁 There’s nothing better than taking what we learn from a book and experiencing it in the real.
First grade had a fun-filled Friday! We made adorable scarecrows and enjoyed some flexible seating. They had the best day!
Over the next two weeks, we will be sharing exciting news about the accomplishments of our Choctaw County School District students and teachers!
When statewide assessment results are compared with schools and districts across Mississippi, our students have given us many reasons to be proud. From individual schools earning some of the top rankings in the state to CCSD placing among Mississippi’s highest-performing districts in several grades and subjects, there is a lot of Charger Pride to share!
Beginning on Monday, we’ll highlight these accomplishments one by one and recognize the those who made this possible.

Mini Cheer Camp Update!
Ms. Armstrong’s 3rd graders aced their multiplication timed test and were treated with ring pops.
Pre-k enjoyed learning to write letters by using vocabulary words from books we have read. They also enjoyed creating ramps and inclines.
Mrs. Griffin and Ms. Kekey's 1st graders are working hard in their math centers this week! They are doing a great job!
Free Center Wednesday! Mrs. Woodard and Mrs. Brown's kindergarten students enjoying their many center options. From letters and beginning sounds to numbers and counting, patterns and shapes, puzzles, and hands-on activities, the learning never stops. We love watching them problem-solve, collaborate, build independence, and most importantly… have Fun while learning!!
Mrs. Miller’s 5th and 6th graders headed outside to celebrate the first day of fall with a nature walk! Students gathered natural fall findings and then used them in a hands-on science investigation with light-sensitive paper.
Apple Week in Kindergarten! 🍏🍎
Mrs. Woodard and Mrs. Brown's kindergarten students have been learning all about apples and the story of Johnny Appleseed! 🌳🍎 They enjoyed discovering how Johnny Appleseed helped plant apple trees across the country and of course, they had to make their own Johnny Appleseed hats!
3rd and 4th grade students had lots of Charger bucks to spend. They look forward to going each week with Ms. Armstrong and Ms. Harrell.
Kindergarten looks forward to the football players and cheerleaders visiting on game day.
WES students celebrated National Dot Day in library on Tuesday. They listened to the story “The Dot” by Peter H. Reynolds and created their own masterpieces using dots.
Learning is more fun together- from using the NFL to divide fractions or trying to Escape the Room. Ms. Coleman's 6th graders are having the best time learning!
